Issues and Suggestions for XML Core Model

Interactive Media

  • Could the DHQarticle or draft also serve for the Statement of Purpose for interactive media. The Statement will be published and explains the work. (We also use it to review the interactive work.) The Statement should be simpler than an article but it will include images, and possibly other short media clips as documentation. GeoffreyRockwell?
    • You read my mind. I think this is altogether sensible. We are hoping soon to start producing some sample data for testing/demonstration; a real or presumed IM submission (or a few) can certainly be included in this. WendellPiez
    • In testing, you (we) may discover you want to extend DHQauthor, the better to support IM writeups. Please announce your requirements when you do, so we can do this. WendellPiez
    • The latest idea is to add a <media> element, analogous to the graphic element, which will carry a reference to any out-of-line object or resource (including entire web sites). I am actually thinking we'll maintain metadata about this object in the header, and place the link in line as if it were any other in line object. The affords us the greatest possibly combination of control and versatility of usage. I'll be posting to dhq-publish with this idea. I envision the same mechanism being used to encapsulate materials that eventually will be upconverted, but have not yet been. WendellPiez
