centerNet is inviting submissions of short videos to introduce and showcase activities from digital humanities centres around the world. These videos will be premiered as a collection at the centerNET meeting during DH2012 in Hamburg, and compiled on the centerNet website.

Jean Bauer Appointed Secretary of centerNet
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jean Bauer as centerNet’s Secretary. Jean is the Digital Humanities Librarian at Brown University and part of the Brown University Library’s Center for Digital Scholarship, where she works with faculty, students, and fellow librarians to design and implement digital systems that showcase and facilitate scholarship in the humanities.
DH Commons Becomes a centerNet Initiative
DHCommons (http://www.dhcommons.org) and centerNet (http://digitalhumanities.org/centernet/) are pleased to announce that, as of January 5, 2012, DHCommons will become a sponsored initiative of centerNet. As a centerNet initiative, DHCommons will help lower the cost of entry into digital scholarship and bridge gaps between large humanities centers and solo practitioners around the world. Together, DHCommons and centerNet will continue to develop the web-based collaboration hub at dhcommons.org, sponsor face-to-face events at a range of humanities conferences, seek grant funding for a program of micro-grants that would help connect solo digital humanists with resources and expertise in the larger digital humanities community, and jointly plan the future DHCommons platform. Together, DHCommons and centerNet will dramatically simplify collaboration among a range of scholars, institutions, and centers.
centerNet to join ADHO
The Alliance of Digital Humanities Organisations (ADHO) and centerNet are very pleased to announce that with effect from 1 January 2012 centerNet is to become a fully fledged ‘Constituent Organisation’ within the ADHO umbrella. The formal agreements were finalised at meetings held last month in conjunction with the international Digital Humanities 2011 conference, held at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

Announcing the first major initiative between CHCI and centerNet: “Humanities (Dot) Net: Currents in the Digital Humanities,” a joint day-long conference at the University of Toronto on June 15. Digital Humanities Center for Japanese Arts and Cultures
The Digital Humanities Center for Japanese Arts and Cultures is located at Ritsumeikan University and is working on projects related to the old Japanese manuscripts, wood block prints, painting, calligraphy and traditional performing arts. As a global COE program, their funding is provided by MEXT.
